On July 25 the Miami-Dade Beacon Council had its annual One Community One Goal event. Held at Marlins Park, the July 2018 date marked its sixth year. This year’s keynote speaker was President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce Mark Wilson. In his inspirational speech, Mr. Wilson expressed his concerns about keeping Miami’s economy strong. He also acknowledged the community leaders, who have made the city a wonderful place to live, work and play in.

With more than 1,000 government, business and community leaders were in attendance. This exceptional list included elected officials, CEOs, university presidents and grassroots activists. To name a few: the event’s Co-Chairs Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez; Maria C. Alonso, President & CEO, United Way of Miami-Dade and Penny S. Shaffer, Ph.D., Market President, South Florida, Florida Blue. Also in attendance were Alberto M. Carvalho Superintendent Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Nelson Lazo CEO Doctor’s Hospital, Michael A. Finney President & CEO Miami-Dade Beacon Council. Our CEO of RMG Staffing Ricardo Michelangeli was also there.
One Community One Goal was created to provide Miami-Dade County with a roadmap for its continued economic prosperity through “strategic recommendations aimed at creating an environment where significant job creation occurs with a focus on new higher-paying jobs in target industries. It is a community-wide effort that provides a unified vision for long-term economic growth in Miami-Dade County”.
The Miami-Dade Beacon Council is a not-for-profit public-private organization that is in an official partnership with the Miami-Dade County to focuses on job creation and economic growth. Since 1985 the partnership has helped bring in more than $4.6 billion in new capital investments to the county. The organization helped create more than 1,000 businesses and 70,000 jobs. It also provides the county with great marketing tools that bring international awareness to Miami-Dade County.
