Spread the Word: Help RMG Help End Lupus

A recently published study concluded that lupus is among the leading causes of death in young women between the ages of 15 and 24. It found that 28,411 young women died due to lupus in 2000 to 2015, ranking lupus as the 10th leading cause of death for women in that age group.

RMG Event Staffing Agency is a huge supporter of Lupus Foundation of America and its efforts to bring awareness to lupus. We are also a proud participant of the annual Walk to End Lupus.

Funded by Lupus Foundation of America the study also revealed that among black and Hispanic women with lupus ranked 5th in the 15 through 24 age group, 6th in the 25 through 34 ages group, and 8th-9th in the 35 through 44 ages groups, after excluding the three common external injury causes of death from analysis. Overall, lupus was among the top 20 leading causes of death in females between the age of 5 and 64.

This study’s revelations on the effects of lupus on black and Hispanic women is one of the many reasons why last year our excellent staff walked in the Miami segment of the event and we can’t wait to do it again this fall. The Walk to End Lupus is held once a year in various cities across the United States but in order to ultimately help find a cure for lupus, the foundation needs our daily help to bring awareness to lupus.

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can impact any part of the body. It affects millions of people worldwide and is challenging to live with an extremely difficult to treat. Despite the widespread prevalence of lupus and seriousness of the disease, rarely is it recognized as one of the leading-causes-of-death in young women between the ages of 15 and 24. At times a large percentage of deaths from lupus get attributed with the consequences of kidney failure or heart attacks.

This study will help open the eyes of those who are not aware of lupus. In addition to awareness, the study goal is to highlight the seriousness of this potentially life-threatening lupus disease.

Currently, lupus is not in the CDC’s annual selected list of causes of death for women.  With the continued efforts of the Lupus Foundation of America and the supporting group of organizations, businesses and individuals more awareness can be raised and as a result, government leaders will form new policies that will enable more funding for research that will ultimately lead to a cure.

That is why we at RMG Event Staffing look for every opportunity to spread the word and the message the foundation is trying to get across.
